Review highlights
Based on 538 reviewsCastle Carvery - The Wherry is praised for its excellent value and generous portion sizes, particularly in the carvery and grill offerings. The venue’s scenic location overlooking Oulton Broad enhances the dining experience, especially on sunny days. Customers appreciate the friendly and attentive staff, contributing to a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. While the food quality is generally regarded as fresh and satisfying, some feedback notes occasional minor issues, such as overcooked vegetables. The establishment can be busy, leading to short wait times, but most find the overall experience worthwhile. Live entertainment and a well-stocked bar further add to its appeal, making it a favored spot for casual dining and social outings.
The Carvery is excellent value for money but they should charge people extra who leave ridiculous amounts of food on their plates at the end, so wasteful! If you plate it, eat it! On a really sunny day there is no better venue for the views of Oulton Broad. Good food, good beer, good venue.
Very large pub with a large menu including carvery. Went for the mixed grill and was not disappointed. Really good size good value would recommend.
Excellent carvery. The food was fresh and the meat was good. The establishment was quite busy and did have to wait around 10 minutes for a table, but it was worth it.
Great staff. It was really busy but the young lad behind the bar was exceptional. (Apologies we didn’t get his name) Speedy without being rushed and very informative. We chose off the main menu. It was fine. Nothing wrong with it at all but it wasn’t outstanding. Veg was over cooked but no big deal. The atmosphere was lovely and very family friendly. We would definitely go back.
Fab location and venue food was beautiful service fab and they had a duet singing brilliant X defo worth a visit!
The food here is insane. The guy serving is so friendly too. Dont pass on the carrots!
Good carvery at very reasonable price. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, the experience was spoiled by the extortionate price of a very average bottle of Malbec that more than doubled the food cost. I should have checked the wine price first!
Good was excellent Stuff was friendly although it would have been lovely if we would have made aware of certain offers , although I appreciate it was quite busy so I guess could have slipped their mind.
